Colleen Maley Rothman is a writer from south Louisiana.
Her short fiction has appeared in Ecotone, storySouth, and Maudlin House, among other publications. Her essays and criticism have been published in The Atlantic, Literary Hub, The Adroit Journal, and elsewhere.
Her work won the 2026 Patty Friedmann Writing Competition in Creative Nonfiction and was a finalist for the Jesmyn Ward Prize in Fiction and the Quarterly West Prose Contest. She has received support from the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, where she was a Tennessee Williams Scholar.
Colleen is an alumna of Carleton College and Northwestern University’s Medill School. She is an associate series editor for the Wigleaf Top 50 and a member of the Morning Writing Club. After many years in the Midwest, she now lives in New Orleans.
